Selected as a Resident Company at Pohang’s “Change-Up Ground”
2025.07.10
CIP Energy (CEO Baek Seung-min) announced on the 10th that it has been selected as a resident company at “Change-Up Ground” in Pohang.
CIP Energy operates a vertically integrated business model in the sodium secondary battery sector, covering anode material development, cylindrical cell production, and battery pack manufacturing.
Change-Up Ground is an all-in-one startup growth platform offering R&D infrastructure, specialized support for materials and energy sectors, technical mentoring, prototype production, and market access support. It provides an optimal growth environment for energy material companies.
At this facility, CIP Energy is advancing the commercialization of its self-developed sodium secondary battery anode material, including sample validation, cell prototype production, and patent strategy enhancement.
A company representative stated, “Through industry-academia-research networks connected to POSTECH, RIST, and POSCO, we can secure specialized talent and engage in technical collaboration. We are also actively utilizing IR programs for domestic and international venture investment and initial sales acquisition.”
CIP Energy cited its technological capabilities in sodium secondary battery anode materials, commercialization strategy, and synergy with Pohang’s specialized materials and energy industry ecosystem as the reasons for being selected.
The company highlighted, “Our anode material demonstrates outstanding performance in key metrics such as initial efficiency, energy density, and lifespan compared to hard carbon. It is attracting attention as a cost-competitive alternative to lithium in the sodium secondary battery market.”
As a resident company, CIP Energy will have access to specialized R&D facilities and shared equipment infrastructure, enabling rapid on-site development, production, and testing of sodium battery anode materials and cell prototypes.
The industry-academia-research network will also support technical verification, acquisition of high-level talent, advanced mentoring, and technical consulting. Change-Up Ground provides growth solutions such as IR demo days, investment connection programs, market access support, and IP strategy consulting.
Through this residency, CIP Energy plans to secure mass production technology for sodium secondary battery anode materials and begin full-scale development of cell and battery pack prototypes. Based on this, the company aims to commercialize a vertically integrated battery business model targeting industrial ESS, micro-mobility, and backup power markets.
